Lindsey Fidler
Research & Development Manager
Lindsey Fidler joined Youth at Risk in June 2007. She is responsible for linking YaR into social policy agendas, contributing to the development of new programmes and for overseeing YaR’s programme data and evaluation systems.
Lindsey joined YaR after nine years at the National Union of Students, where she was latterly Director for Campaigns and Communications – overseeing research and policy work, press and public affairs campaigns, welfare information and communications to defend the rights of students in further and higher education across the UK
Prior to this, she worked within education research for the Economic and Social Research Council and the University of Warwick Students’ Union and as a secondary school instructor.
She is passionate about tackling educational underachievement and developing opportunities. She is also a member of the Elizabeth Nuffield Education Foundation Grants Board, a Governor of the University of Bedfordshire and undertakes freelance authoring, training and policy development within the voluntary sector.
Kam-Mei Chak
Programmes Co-ordinator, South
Kam-Mei's role is to co-ordinate Youth at Risk programmes in the south of the country, within Education and Employment, to ensure they are delivered to plan. She develops and maintains key relationships with our clients in schools, colleges and local authorities and also with our trainers and volunteers. She joined Youth at Risk after herself volunteering as a performance coach.
Previously Kam-Mei held the post of Head of Project Management for a leading London subtitling and dubbing company.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Oriental Studies from the University of Cambridge and is also a qualified holistic massage therapist.
Clare Turnbull
Programmes Co-ordinator, North
Clare's role is identical to that of Kam-Mei, but for the north. Prior to joining Youth at Risk Clare worked as a researcher, investigating the impact of the arms trade on human rights. She has worked with children and young people as a classroom assistant in schools and as a personal tutor. She has also spent time volunteering for a charity for deaf children and adults in Tamil Nadu, South India.
Clare holds a BA (Hons) in Development and Peace Studies (University of Bradford)
