Southend Borough Council

Youth at Risk have been working in partnership with Southend Borough Council for over 5 years and for the last 2 years have been running the “Motivate the Estate” Project. This Programme focuses on transforming the Woodgrange Estate and St. Lukes Ward. Our work has been highly credited in "Southend Borough Council Children's Safeguarding Peer Review April 2010", carried out by the Independent Development Agency. Following this, we have run an advanced adult training requested by professionals who had previously engaged in our training who wanted to take their training to the next level to further impact their professional practice around young people.

The inspection noted in particular that two of the five Key Strengths within Legislation and Policy were:

"Staff attend transformational training"

"Motivate the Estate"

And also that:

"Transformational leadership has created a culture in which individual staff take responsibility for their roles and make a difference"

We have also trained a groups of Volunteer Coaches and matched them with young people from our the programme.

Youth at Risk continue to work in partnership with Southend Borough Council to create a lasting legacy.
