"Before volunteering with Youth at Risk, I never appreciated what I had and who I was"
"By doing this, I saw that people did value me as a person and I started to see myself as a contribution, something that I had never thought of myself as before. At work I really started to value myself. I set up a support group for colleagues that I chaired - something that I would have never thought possible before.
I have been very proactive with my relationships with my family whereas before I just kept hoping something would sort it out. I did not have a close relationship with my brother and sister and found it very difficult to express myself to them. Now I have built on both of these relationships and spend time with them both. I now have a new sense of who it is I can be for people."
