Community Transformation Programme
We are presently delivering 9 Community Transformation Programmes across the United Kingdom in partnership with the Dept. for Children, Schools & Families, through its Youth Sector Development Fund and the local authorities of Sandwell, Thurrock, Southend, Central Bedfordshire, Manchester, Salford, Sunderland, Warwickshire and Croydon.
Founded on our proven transformation model each programme has locally agreed targets for improving outcomes for the most alienated and disengaged young people enabling them to recognise and fulfil their potential to build a worthwhile future and in so doing, benefit their community. The young people on these programmes include those who have been excluded from or opted out of education, are unemployed, are young offenders, are misusing drugs and alcohol, are involved in gangs and are young parents.
The programmes constitute a series of bespoke training and coaching activities that combine to create an environment, process, delivery and support structure for enabling change in these young people’s lives. They undertake a series of intensive personal development training events, including a five-day no-nonsense residential course, a programme of personal performance coaching and a sustained period of support in implementing change and in accessing and taking full advantage of the education, training and employment services available to them.
The programmes do not simply work with the young people, but also with professionals from a range of the local youth services, both statutory and voluntary, voluntary organisations, stakeholders, local business, parents, carers, family networks, in fact the whole community.
The aims of the programmes are:
- To help raise engagement amongst the community
- Impact individuals aspirations and involvement
- Improve young people’s educational achievement and engagement with training and employment and decrease anti-social behaviour
- Establish community based and led projects to enhance the experience of living in / being part of or serving that community
Each programme will utilise a range of Youth at Risk’s existing schemes to support the community in its transformation.
Volunteering opportunities:
There are a number of roles that we need volunteers to perform :
